The Mindless Christian

In embracing Christianity, questions are imminent. In fact, we should worry if new believers are not asking questions. because it would usually mean one of two things . The first being that they are not edifying themselves, reading the gospel and listening to sermons and the second is that they are reading but are possibly interpreting wrongly.

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect- 1 Peter 3:15

There are people who have placed their culture, liberalism and other ideologies above Christianity, there are others who really cannot comprehend scripture correctly. Understanding scripture, not just for yourself but for them is key. This is because there are times when you may need to defend the faith or even just explain to another believer, and only a sound understanding of scripture in proper context can enable you do that. It also enables you to preach the gospel in a way that appeals to certain categories of people. Seeking the “why” in scripture helps you to actually understand why people can easily misconstrue the bible because you’re able to see “supposed loopholes”. When an individual’s bible interpretation is off and such person is oblivious of God’s true nature, it’s much more convenient to say Jesus and his apostles were, misogynistic not just, hateful not loving , greedy not prudent.

I acknowledge the need people have to question God’s actions and instructions- whether in a respectful manner or not. Truthfully, I do not see God’s word from that standpoint anymore; I have come to understand his power and I realize that whatever I think I can use to challenge scripture is foolishness. God is literally the most powerful being , he knows all things. The bible even tells us that before we are formed God knows us. He knows what we’re going to be craving for dinner next week Thursday by 5pm lol. He really is all knowing and the more I try to question his actions or his character, the more I see that whatever outright rebuttal I have is null and void. I find myself mostly trying to get understanding, not really because I need the explanation for why a particular thing is a sin or why we are instructed to certain things, but because I want to be able to answer certain questions.

God said so and that is more than enough reason in itself

I know what I’m about to say may sound odd but if you see me obeying God and not committing sins, and ask me why? The truth is my heart posture is not set to need the “why”. Why do I seem to take God’s word for it? I can give you many answers but my truest answer is All I know is God said so! lol and that is more than enough reason in itself.

For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.- Hebrew 4:12

If you are lining up God’s word against culture, ideologies and social constructs in a bid to discredit it, then I’m here to assure you it is a perfect waste of time. Through the eyes of the world, you may think your points and arguments seem valid and justifiable but they are not a match for God’s wisdom.

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom- 1 Corinthians 1:25a.

“Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”- 1 Corinthians 3:18–19

God is a perfect God , he can do no wrong and this is why I trust him. This is why I can be mindless and not feel an urgency to seek justification for what he says — in a bid to challenge him. He is the perfect standard for wisdom so we do not need to worry whether his word is true or not , whether it is self seeking, or oppresses, whether it favors one over the other (Galatian 3:28). God is not the problem, human nature is. The earlier we realize that , the better off we will be.

I am a yes man for God because my God don’t flop lol.
